Following on from last week’s video about replacing my headliner/headlining in my Jaguar XK8 I’ve now moved onto the a-pillars. This didn’t go 100% smoothly but I’m happy with the result and probably wouldn’t take much time or expense to redo them. Hopefully this video is useful to some people out there and thanks very much for watching!
Jaguar XK8 – Headlining Replacement
I finally got round to replacing the headling in my Jaguar XK8. The process is straightforward but a bit fiddly, the more trim you remove the easier it is so I probably would get the passenger seat out if I were to do it in the future. I can recommend ‘Headliner World’ based in Kent, UK nice product and included the A pillar trim material as well so that will be next on the list! When ordering be sure to order the right colour……..doh!

Thoughts in an MGB GT
I took my car (1967 MGB GT) for a drive the other day and it got me thinking about why I like classic cars. For me it’s getting out and driving the thing, the noises, the feel of the steering wheel, the smell (is that oil?!) the challenge of getting the most out of it unaided by computers or technology! Also, looking at the reflection driving past shop fronts and people’s reactions, children pointing, all great feelings that you just don’t get with a hum-drum modern. So, with some of our favourite car shows cancelled why not let’s get out for a drive together and see what noises, smells and reactions we get in numbers! Let me know if anyone is interested in going for a drive, doesn’t have to be far or challenging and suggestions welcome! Video title stolen from a chapter in Goldfinger!

Lotus Esprit S2 – Interior Strip : Part 2
After a bit of a break I’m back working on the Lotus Esprit getting the dashboard out. This took a bit of time and new pliers helped remove the more stubborn screws but I wasn’t able to get all the trim out so I’ll have to make a follow-up video! Slow but sure progress at least!

Jaguar XK8 – Morning Mission : Great Train Robbery
Another ‘morning mission’ in my Jaguar XK8 making my way through the Chiltern Hills looking out for locations associated with the Great Train Robbery. It’s a fascinating story with lots of interesting characters, one of which I mention in the video. I finish at Bletchley Park but time constraints meant I didn’t go into the site so I really didn’t do it justice, one to revisit at a later date I feel!

MGB GT – Bore Inspection and Sea Foam Test
A slightly pointless video this one, I take a look inside the engine of my MGB GT trying to see anything of interest then apply a sea foam treatment for no good reason! If we didn’t learn anything from the video we at least learned that I’m a moron!

Lotus Esprit S2 – Interior Strip : Part 1
I’ve spent a couple of mornings stripping down the interior of my Lotus Esprit S2 as the first steps of my restoration of this car. Progress has been hampered by very rusty screws and bolts that are going to need more drastic action than a screwdriver and socket set but I’m hoping to keep the momentum of the work by bringing part 2 to you in the near future!

MGB GT – Fail, Fix and Drive!
Back in the MGB GT this time doing a couple of jobs before taking the car out for a little drive and swinging past @AdamC3046 at his rolling car show! The grease nipple on the front suspension I broke during routine maintenance is still causing me trouble, my wing mirror needs attention but the main thing I wanted to do was get out and drive the thing!
