Although the Zero is not strictly a replica of the Lotus Seven and Great British Sports Cars by no means the only Lotus Seven style kit manufacturer I felt it was worth writing about for the sheer affordability of their products. Formerly named Robin Hood Sports Cars, Great British Sports Cars have been making Lotus Seven style kits for over 25 years and this experience means they have heaps of knowledge and expertise. This is just as well since their flagship kit; the ‘ZERO’ has been designed to accommodate a vast range of power plants from your traditional Sierra Pinto to high-revving motorbike engines. As I mentioned, the differentiator for GBSC is the price of their kits, the ZERO base kit starts at less than two thousand pounds and fully built cars are available from fourteen with many other kit options in between. So if you’re after your first kit car or fancy a cheap track day car the obvious option is the splendid ZERO from GBSC.
